…escape with over $1M Two armed bandits stormed the pharmacy operated by 55-year-old Tularam Tiwari at his Uitvlugt Front, West Coast Demerara residence on Friday at about 19:45h, and carted off more than $1 million.Guyana Times understands that Tiwari was alone in the pharmacy when the bandits entered. One of the “identifiable” men had a firearm, which he pointed at the pharmacist, demanding that he open the grill door that leads to the back of the counter.Tiwari complied with this request, and upon gaining access behind the counter, the second suspect also drew a gun from his waist and pointed it at Tiwari.The suspects then demanded that Tiwari hand over all the cash and valuables in his possession, and he again complied. This newspaper was told that a total of $1,065,000 cash was given to the bandits.After collecting the money, the armed men pushed Tiwari into a room located east of the pharmacy, and closed the door.The pharmacist remained in the room for about five minutes before coming out. By that time, however, the bandits had already fled.The matter has since been reported, and an investigation has been launched. As of press time on Saturday, no arrests were made.
