Southland Athletes of the Week are presented by MidSouth Bank. Women’s Athlete of the Week: Arina Kleshchukova, New Orleans – Fr. – Bishkek, KyrgyzstanRunning in only her fourth cross country competition, Kleshchukova finished second at the Mississippi College Invitational with a time of 18:12:00 over 5 kilometers. Southland weekly award winners are nominated and voted upon by each school’s sports information director. Voting for one’s own athletes is not permitted. To earn honorable mention, a student-athlete must appear on 25 percent of ballots.center_img The junior covered the 8K course in 25.02 for his second race win in four outings. His win fueled the Lions second-place team finish. The freshman has finished no lower than fourth in her four career races with a pair of second-place performances on the season. The Lions and Privateers will see action next at the 2018 Southland Cross Country Championships, set for Friday, Oct. 26, at the Enos Derbonne Sports Complex in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
