Sheriff’s station cells to be haunted – and fun

Department displays, game booths and plenty of opportunities to be frightened inside the hauntingly decorated jail cells will be part of the fun available as the Santa Clarita sheriff’s station once again hosts its Haunted Jailhouse. The annual event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the sheriff’s station, 23740 W. Magic Mountain Parkway, Valencia. Assisting the station with the event will be the Santa Clarita Valley Boys & Girls Club, the Miracles through Hope chapter of the City of Hope, the SCV Optimist Club, the Association to Aid Domestic Violence and the city of Santa Clarita. The combined effort of these organizations provides a safe, fun Halloween outing that the community looks forward to each year. The event will feature Sheriff’s Department displays, bounce houses, music, food and game booths provided by nonprofit organizations from throughout the Santa Clarita Valley. The Halloween costume contest, with prizes for each age category, will be available for those who dress up for the occasion. Children under 2 will be judged at 12:30 p.m.; ages 2 to 4 at 1 p.m.; ages 5 to 7 at 1:30 p.m.; ages 8 to 10 at 2 p.m.; ages 11 and 12 at 2:30 p.m.; and ages 13 to adult at 3 p.m. 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong.
